Personality disorders can be treated by cognitive therapies. Axis I disorde
rs are often complicated by them. Therapists must overcome transference's p
itfalls similar as usal patient's interactions with significant others.
The following case record of a bachelor female patient aged 30, whose story
was caracterized by repeated intimate and professional failures shows how
works cognitive approach applied to personality disorders. Size suffered as
well of severe alcoohol binges.
Personality was evaluated by Pfohl's semi-structured interview: SIDP, trans
lated and validated by A. Pham-Scottez and J.D. Guelfi and J. Young's Schem
a Questionnaire (Se If). Cognitive skills assessment (PES) was performed in
order to identify and measure the main failures in her strategies of obser
ving, problem solving and responding.
