Abstract
We examined brain sections from P- and E-selectin-deficient mice (-/-)and t heir nontransgenic littermates (+/+) after focal cerebral ischemia and repe rfusion (I/R) tissue injury. There was no difference in the subsequent infa rct volume after 3 h of ischemia and 21 h of reperfusion. These data indica te that selectin-independent mechanisms mediate tissue injury after a prolo nged period of transient focal ischemia. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
