In this paper, the phase morphology of the PA6/PP-g- (GMA-co-St) blends was
investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The unifor
m and fine dispersed phase was observed. The size of the dispersed phase wa
s less than 0.5 mu m. It was also found that the microphase separated struc
ture formed in the blends. FTIR spectra revealed that the PP-PAG graft copo
lymers formed in situ by chemical reactions occurred between epoxy groups o
f PP-g-(GMA-co-St) and the terminal amino or carboxylic groups of PA6 durin
g the melt mixing. The formation of the microphase separated structure shou
ld be related to the in situ formed PP-PAG graft copolymer.
