Today, T cells appear to be the main protagonists in the pathogenesis of ps
oriasis vulgaris. This article summarizes how T cells might contribute to t
he generation of psoriatic skin lesions, It discusses the preferential T ce
ll receptor usage and the putative mode of T cell activation in psoriatic s
kin lesions, and how streptococcal throat infections could be involved in d
isease manifestations. The results are integrated into a pathogenetic conce
pt which considers psoriasis as a T-cell mediated autoimmune disorder.
