Genes controlling expression of defense responses in Arabidopsis

In the past year, two regulatory defense-related genes, EDS1I and COl1, hav e been cloned. Several other genes with regulatory functions have been iden tified by mutation, including DND1, PAD4, CPR6, and SSI1. It has become cle ar that jasmonate signaling plays an important role in defense response sig naling, and that the jasmonate and salicylic acid signaling pathways are in terconnected.
