Abstract
Recent research has shown that there appears to be real opportunities for l ess developed countries to obtain high yields to their investments in techn ology licensing agreements. Using a unique data set on all foreign technolo gy licensing agreements entered into by India's largest 485 private sector firms in the industrial sector, tis paper analyses important but often negl ected questions on licensing agreements, and concludes that though technolo gy licensing enhances firms' profitability, it is found having a negative e ffect on the net export earnings.
