The preparation of three molecular assemblies in which a tetrathiafulv
alene (TTF) derivative is covalently linked to one, two or four C-60 m
olecules is reported. The cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of the supramolec
ules are the virtual superposition of those of their donor and accepto
r parts. In addition, UV-Vis spectra are highly similar to those of th
e TTF precursors, indicating that no spontaneous electronic transfer o
ccurs between the fullerene spheres and the TTF core.
