Abstract
The uniqueness properties of a class of nonlinear electrostatic field probl ems are investigated. The study was motivated by the development of numeric al algorithms to analyse the performance of nonlinear semiconducting electr on devices. Here, existence and uniqueness of the solution are prerequisite s for the numerical results to have any meaning at all.
