Abstract
Measurements of turbulent flow field velocities, including first and second order velocity moments and the shear stress are carried out by laser Doppl er velocimetry in five different, 25 kW, turbulent natural gas-oxygen diffu sion flames. The mean flow behaviour is described including the velocity ha lf value radius as well as centerline velocity. Mean radial velocity profil es are fitted by a Gaussian function. According to the initial momentum rat io, different jet dynamic behaviours are pointed out by the description of the fluctuating velocity field. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd.
