Oy. Eremina et Ei. Bakanova, Changes in physiological and biochemical indices during insect ontogenesisunder the influence of heavy metal salts, IAN BIOL, (3), 1999, pp. 343-354
We studied growth and development of the domestic fly Musca domestica (stra
in Cooper) during larvae growth on the substrate with introduced heavy meta
ls acetates (Zn, Cu, Pb, and Cd) at various concentrations. Median lethal d
ose (LD@50) was determined for Cu and Cd salts. Toxic concentrations of Cu
and Cd decreased the weight, elongated larvae development, and affected ecd
ysis and metamorphosis. We traced the changes in the activities of acid pho
sphatase, monophenol monooxygenase, and nonspecific esterase during growth
and development of the larvae, pupae, and imagoes. inhibiting effect of Cu
and Cd salts on acid phosphatases and monophenol monooxygenase, respectivel
y, was established in vivo. Median inhibition index (I-50) of the heavy met
als was determined in vitro for the studied enzymes.
