Abstract
Purpose : To analyze the impact of radiology requests and reports on the qu ality of the radiology consultation. Method: Over a 6 month period, the authors have collected radiology request s and reports deemed incorrect. These documents have been classified. A rev iew of the literature has been conducted, then an attempt has been made to summarize the main elements to be included in radiology requests and report s to improve quality. Results : Twelve categories of improper requests and 8 categories of improp er reports have been identified. Conclusion : Requests and reports represent two essential steps of the cons ultation process in radiology. These two aspects are not sufficiently empha sized at medical school and during residency training in France. The effici ency of both steps mainly depends on the interaction between the referring physician and the radiology consultant.
