Abstract
The interaction between diclofenac (sodium salt of 2-[(2,6-dichlorophe nyl)amino] benzeneacetic acid) and beta-cyclodextrin in aqueous soluti on has been investigated by H-1-NMR spectroscopic technique. The techn ique is based on the shielding of the beta-cyclodextrin and drug proto ns. The spectra showed upfield shifts of the beta-cyclodextrin protons in the presence of diclofenac, and the diclofenac protons also shifte d upfield in the presence of beta-cyclodextrin. The changes in chemica l shifts of suitable guest-host protons are consistent with the format ion of an inclusion complex diclofenac/beta-cyclodextrin. (C) 1997 Joh n Wiley & Sons, Inc.
