Abstract
The optimization of background electrolyte compositions for capillary zone electrophoresis in combination with conductivity detection focusing on maxi mal detector response is discussed. A theoretical approach pointing out the influence of the electrolyte co- and counter-ion mobilities on the detecto r signal has been developed. Using this model, running buffer compositions providing optimum SIN ratios for the selected analytes could be calculated. The results derived from these examinations have been verified by experime ntal investigations, namely the determination of inorganic and organic anio nic solutes. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V.
