After a short summary of the aetiopathogenesis, the routes of extensio
n and the diagnostic features of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma, the impo
rtance of early diagnosis and careful surgical planning is underlined.
In particular the extension and topographic localization allows the c
hoice of the best approach to optimize surgical radicality-the prime c
oncern in the treatment of nasopharyngeal angiofibroma. Different surg
ical approaches are proposed for the tumor removal according to our ex
perience in 17 patients.
