CRITERIA FOR APPLICABILITY OF THE APPROXIMATIONS OF CONSTANT CHARGE AND QUASI-EQUILIBRIUM IN THE THEORY OF SLOW COAGULATION AND CONDITIONS FOR REALIZATION OF THE INTERMEDIATE TYPE OF PARTICLE INTERACTION

On the basis of the solution to the equation for the desorption of ion s from the surface of approaching colloid particles, the quantitative criteria, characterizing the conditions for the applicability of the a pproximations of constant charge or of quasi-equilibrium upon the calc ulation of the retardation factor of the coagulation, were obtained. T hese criteria simultaneously characterize the range of the parameters, where the intermediate regime of slow coagulation is realized. The in termediate regime was ascertained to be realized within a very wide ra nge of parameters, covering approximately six decimal orders of magnit ude.
