Abstract
This study examined the effects of Hispanic counselors' race and speech acc ent on Asian American and African American students' initial perceptions. R esults show that students' Bender, race, and level of "universal-diverse" o rientation, along with counselors' speech accent, predicted students' initi al perceptions of the counselors and of the counseling relationship.
