Ga. Krystev et Dd. Khristozov, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERMINATION OF SEDIMENTATION STABILITY ANDSEDIMENTATION ANISOTROPY ANGLE, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 56(5), 1994, pp. 586-592
A new method of the absorption type is suggested for the determination
of the gravitational sedimentation stability and sedimentation anisot
ropy angle of the liquid polydisperse systems. The average intensity o
f the radiation (in particular, laser radiation), which is transmitted
in two directions of the medium studied: along (or opposite) and tran
sversely with respect to the intensity of the uniform gravitational fi
eld, is measured at each unit time of the sedimentation. A new complex
physical value, sedimentation anisotropy of the liquid polydisperse s
ystems, is introduced. Its module and argument characterize the sedime
ntation process. This value serve as a more complete qualitative descr
iption of the liquid polydisperse systems. The apparatuses for this me
thod are suggested.
