To analyze and to optimize the cooling conditions at blown film extrusion l
ines, the cooling air stream has been determined by using a hot wire anemom
eter. The velocity and temperature profiles of the air stream and the air p
ressure along the bubble have been measured. During film extrusion the sign
ificant process parameters and the cooling air ring geometry have been vari
ed.
The goal of these studies is to gain a theoretical description of the cooli
ng air stream. Therefore, the experimental results represent a good basis f
or developing and checking the results of such a model.
