Abstract
The reactions of methanol solutions of cis-Re-2(mu-O2CCH3)(2)Cl-4(H2O)(2) w ith PAr3 (Ar = Ph, C6H4Me-p, C6H4Me-m or C6H4Cl-p) afford the quadruply bon ded dirhenium(IV,II) complexes Cl-2(MeO)(2)ReReCl2(PAr3)(2), whereas P(C6H4 OMe-p)(3) gives the complex Re-4(mu-O)(4)Cl-4[P(C6H4OMe-p)(3)](4), which X- ray crystallography has shown is the first symmetrical, neutral, tetrarheni umcyclodiyne type cluster containing phosphine ligands.
