Strategies for the stereoselective synthesis of molecules with remote stereogenic centres across a double bond of fixed configuration

This review outlines the methods which have been used to synthesise molecul es with remote stereogenic centres across a double bond of fixed configurat ion. The syntheses are grouped according to the underlying strategies which have been devised; the relative merits of these strategies and their usefu lness in the context of the synthesis of biologically important molecules a re discussed.
