The influence of the texture in hot-band, cold-rolled strip on the annealin
g texture and the magnetic induction has been investigated in thin-gauged 3
% silicon-iron steel. Under moderate final cold-rolling condition, the thi
n-gauged strips showed magnetic inductions higher than 1.9 T after final an
nealing at 1200 degrees C for 14.4 ks. A heavily deformed strip showed a ma
gnetic induction less than 1.69 T. Through ODF analysis, it was found that
the nucleation and the development of Goss texture is not largely related t
o the {110}[001] grains near the surface of the hot-band, cold-rolled strip
, but to the final cold-rolling reduction ratio.
