Abstract
We have studied suitable seeding methods for fabricating a c-axis textured binary mixed (Sm0.5Gd0.5)Ba2Cu3Oy bulk with a single grain and also have sy stematically investigated the interfacial reaction between various seed cry stals and samples. We succeeded in fabricating a single-grain (Sm0.5Gd0.5)B a2Cu3Oy bulk with a diameter of 53 mm. The trapped field magnetization was about 0.5 T in a sample with dimensions of 20 x 20 x 5 mm(3) at 77 K.
