Abstract
The spectrum of cesium was recorded in the 300-1240-Angstrom region on a 3- m normal-incidence spectrograph and in the 100-300-Angstrom region on a 10. 7-m grazing-incidence spectrograph. The earlier analysis of Cs vm by Kaufma n and Sugar [J. Opt. Sec. Am. B 4, 1919 (1987)] was confirmed, except for t he two levels 5s5d(1)D(2) and 4d(9)5s(2)4(1)P(1), and all other, earlier le vel values were revised. In addition, 12 levels of the 5p4f, the missing le vels in the earlier-analyzed 5p(2) S-1(0) and 5s6s S-1(0), and all levels o f the 5s4f, 5s5f and 11 of the 12 levels of the 5p5d configurations of the odd-parity configurations have been located. The Hartree-Fock calculations with relativistic corrections and least-squares-fitting calculations were c arried out, which helped in the satisfactory interpretation of the spectrum . One hundred ten lines are now classified in this spectrum, of which eight y-six are newly classified lines. (C) 1999 Optical Society of America [S074 0-3224(99)01208-4].
