Abstract
We supplemented the diets of 47 peripubertal girls with zinc (15 mg/day) or placebo for 6 weeks. Zinc supplementation increased serum zinc. Insulin-li ke growth factor I and biochemical markers of bone turnover did not change, albeit dietary zinc was below the reference level (in 94% of individuals).
