Abstract
Light hydrocarbon-condensate-gathering pipelines I recently have exhibited internal corrosion problems in a gas/water/light hydrocarbon mixture. This study addresses the aggressiveness of the environment and possible corrosio n prevention methods. Despite the low general corrosion rates measured, int ernal pitting was observed even in the presence of a corrosion inhibitor. T his investigation suggested that the presence of condensate may affect the susceptibility of steel to pitting.
