Abstract
The influence of heat treatments in a reducing atmosphere prior to deformat ion on the high-temperature mechanical behaviour of yttria fully stabilized zirconia single crystals has been analysed. According to the present resul ts, the yield stress decreases significantly for reduced samples. The pheno menon correlates quite well with the dynamics of defects and gives a clue a bout their influence on mechanical properties.
