Abstract
Close-packed superstructures in self-assembled colloidal metal clusters are usually described as analogues of the crystal structures exhibited by elem ental metals, but no such description has been developed for non-close-pack ed configurations. It is shown here that some of these arrangements can be described as disordered forms of the Glib, C40 and C54 structures exhibited by transition-metal disilicides.
