M. Aindow et al., Self-assembly of size-selected colloidal metal clusters: crystalline descriptions of non-close-packed arrangements, PHIL MAG L, 79(8), 1999, pp. 569-574
Close-packed superstructures in self-assembled colloidal metal clusters are
usually described as analogues of the crystal structures exhibited by elem
ental metals, but no such description has been developed for non-close-pack
ed configurations. It is shown here that some of these arrangements can be
described as disordered forms of the Glib, C40 and C54 structures exhibited
by transition-metal disilicides.
