Dammarane triterpenes and pregnane steroids from Aglaia lawii and A-tomentosa

Three known dammaranes, cabraleone, eichlerianic acid and shoreic acid, tog ether with two new ones, aglinins A and B, were isolated from the bark of A glaia lawii. A. tomentosa also contained dammarane triterpenes: the known, cabraleone, cabraleadiol 3-acetate, 3-epiocotillol, cabralealactone, cabral ealactone 3-acetate and the new aglinins C and D. In addition, two new preg nane steroids, aglatomins A and B, were isolated from A. tomentosa along wi th the known cytotoxic cyclopentatetrahydrobenzofuran, rocaglaol. The struc ture of the new compounds was determined by spectral means, essentially 2D NMR experiments. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
