Abstract
A new proanthocyanidin, 4'-O-methylgallocatechin- (4 alpha --> 8)-4'-O-meth ylgallocatechin of the rare 4'-methoxy derivatives of prodelphinidin, was i solated from the stem bark of Stryphnodendron adstringens. The structure wa s determined on the basis of spectroscopic data including 1-D (H-1, C-13) a nd 2-D NMR (H-1-H-1-COSY, HSQC, HMBC) experiments of its peracetylated deri vative.
