Zirconium phosphate (alpha-type), and zirconium phosphate-phosphite, and th
eir silica containing forms were prepared. The products of syntheses and th
eir purities and crystallinities were characterized by XRD diffraction. The
reafter the samples were irradiated with gamma-rays (to 3 x 10(6) Gy absorb
ed dose), after which irradiation the samples were again characterized. Com
parison of the diffractograms reveals that irradiation does not result in d
etectable structural changes. Thus, application of these materials as sorbe
nts and as ion exchangers is suggested in processes taking place under irra
diation. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
