Abstract
A complete set of dependent furrow irrigation variables has been ident ified, for which empirical functions, of general applicability, have b een developed. A one-dimensional sensitivity analysis technique couple d with dimensional analysis was employed to reduce the number of indep endent irrigation variables to a manageable size. Simulation experimen ts were carried out to generate the data used in developing the pertin ent functional relationships. Regression analysis was used to ascertai n the specific form of the equations. The predictive quality of the fu nctions has been assessed by comparing their output with those of a ze ro-inertia model, and was found to be satisfactory.
