A survey of many state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) identified bond
strength as the most important property of a repair material. This study f
ocused on how moisture conditions and surface preparation of the old concre
te and curing of the repaired concrete influenced the bonding of portland c
ement concrete and rapid-set repair materials when exposed to freeze-thaw c
ycling. Three rapid-setting repair materials were investigated and compared
using a prism splitting test.
