Abstract
Lanthanide picrate complexes with N,N'-dinaphthyl-N,N'-diphenyl-3, 6-d ioxaoctanediamide (DDD), Ln(Pic)(3), (DDD) (Ln=Ce, Nd, Eu, Tb, Er, Y) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, conductivi ty measurements, IR, H-1 NMR and UV-VIS spectra. In all complexes, DDD shows quadridentate behaviour. Solvent extraction of light lanthanide picrates with DDD has been carried out in water-nitrobenzene system. The extraction equilibrium constants (K-e), and complexation constants (K-c) in the nitrobenzene phase rare determined at 20 degrees C. The K-e values for light lanthanide cations decrease in the order: La3+ > Nd3+ > Eu3+.
