The overall size and mass of a reactive filtering-consistent circuit (netwo
rk) are defined by the maximum storable (reactive) energy (the energy facto
r) in the circuit elements. Studies are made of the above energy factor for
loaded reactive four-terminal networks, and it is shown that the storable
energy is specified by the input and transfer functions of a four-terminal
network. Based on the derived relations, ways are found for a decrease in t
he energy factors and, hence, in the mass-size factors of a reactive circui
t. Results of the numerical analysis for energy functions of the classical
Chebyshev LC filters care given.
