A new data-aided phase tracking detector for frequency-shifted DPSK signals
is proposed in which the baseband frequency shift compensation technique o
f Choi and Lee (1997) is incorporated into the structure of data-aided phas
e tracking detection. Simulations show that the new detector outperforms th
e differential detector with perfect frequency-shift compensation for a wid
e range of frequency shifts, and even approaches the coherent detector in t
erms of its performance.
