Abstract
A tunable optoelectronic oscillator generating a microwave output signal at
1GHz with an extremely low phase noise is presented. The oscillator was al
so operated as a pulse generator, making use of the inherent nonlinearity o
f an intracavity electro-optic modulator. Pulses of 1-2ns in duration at re
petition rates of 20-200MHz were generated.
