Abstract
A novel technique for generating millimetre-wave signals through phase-to-i ntensity modulation (PM-IM) conversion in chirped Fibre gratings is present ed. Experimental results at 28GHz show excellent phase noise performance (- 87dBc/Hz at 10kHz). It is also demonstrated that this technique may be used for harmonically upconverting intermediate frequency signals to the microw ave/millmetre-wave hand achieving BER < 10(-9) in QPSK transmissions.
