Abstract
The implementation of plastic optical fibers (POF's) in parallel optical in terconnects is reported. 8 x 8 array interconnects with a potential of > 10 0-Gb/s accumulated data throughput have been demonstrated using 125-mu m-di ameter POF's, The technology, the limitations and the potential of POF-inte rconnects are discussed.
