,For use in constructing highly sensitive magnetic sensors, the present aut
hors have been studying the preparation of thick Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) films.
In this research, thick YBCO film was;as fabricated as the magnetic sensor
, constructed to retain a residual resistance R-res at the boiling point of
liquid nitrogen (77.4 K). The resistance Rms of the magnetic sensor, in th
e transition region Delta T, is found to be highly sensitive to the applied
magnetic held B-ex, where Delta T is the region of temperatures between th
e resistance drop T(c)onset and residual resistance Teres temperatures. Und
er temperature conditions of 77.4 Ei the value ofRnri for this sensor (1.5
mm in width, 67 mm in length, and 280 mu m thick) For an applied Bell of 80
x 10(-4), increased by factor of 5.8 times greater that in the absence of
a magnetic field. In addition, no evidence was found of the existence of hy
steresis in the Rms vs Bex characteristics for weak values of Bes. The pres
ent paper er;amines the fabrication conditions and magnetic responses of th
e highly sensitive sensor constructed of a thick YBCO Blm.
