The bi-axially-oriented thin films of Cu1-xTlx(Ba, Sr)(2)Ca2Cu3O10-y (Cu1-x
Tlx-1223: x =0.2 similar to 1.0) were prepared by an amorphous phase epitax
y(APE) technique on SrTiO3 substrates. The amorphous phase was deposited by
sputtering on the substrate and annealed in a thallium atmosphere at simil
ar to 885 degrees C for similar to 50 min. Their Tc values were 100 similar
to 113 K and higher than those of the YBa2Cu3O7-y (Y-123, that is, Cu-1212
) system. Their Jc values were 2x10(7) A/cm(2) (77 K, 0 T) and 4x10(5) A/cm
(2)(77 K, 10 T) at their maximum for x similar to 0.5. The Jc values were h
igher than the maximum values of Y-123 thin films by a factor of 2. The hig
h Jc values are consistent with the low superconducting anisotropy (gamma=x
i(ab)/xi(c)=2.5 similar to 4) of Cu1-xTlx-1223 and its high Tc.
