Abstract
The ATLAS central solenoid magnet is being constructed to provide a magneti c field of 2 Tesla in the central tracking part of the ATLAS detector. As a key technology for the solenoid coil as thin as possible, high-strength al uminum stabilized superconductor has been developed with achieving a yield strength of > 100 MPa at 4.2K. This paper describes the status of the desig n and development of the solenoid magnet.
