U-q[sl(2)] quantum algebra in quantum Hall effect

Abstract
For a two-dimensional system of electrons described by a Hamiltonian involv ing two- and three-body interactions and an external transverse magnetic fi eld, we construct the U-q[sl(2)] quantum algebra, where the deformation par ameter q is related to the filling factor nu. We show that the Laughlin sta tes form a representation of this algebra.
