Abstract
On the loop space L(G) over a compact connected Lie group G, we explicitly determine the first order differential operator l(t) (dilatation vector fie ld) such that the heat equation holds with respect to the Wiener measure mu (t)(L) defined on the loop space. (C) 1999 Academic Press.
