Abstract
Inelastic neutron scattering measurements have been performed on a single c
rystal of BaNiO2. A paramagnetic scattering originating from dilute moments
was observed, suggesting that BaNiO2, is non-magnetic. The possible origin
of the nonmagnetic ground state is discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Lt
