We have calculated energy levels, oscillator strengths and transition proba
bilities for all dipole-allowed transitions among the 25 terms belonging to
the 3s(2)3p, 3s3p(2), 3s(2)3d, 3p(3), 3s3p3d, 3s(2)4s, 3s(2)4p, 3s(2)4d, 3
s(2)4f and 3s3p4s configurations of S Iv in the LS coupling scheme using th
e CIV3 code. These 25 LS states are represented by extensive configuration-
interaction wavefunctions. From our transition probabilities, we have also
calculated radiative lifetimes of 18 doubler and four quartet stales in S r
v. We have included a large number of configurations within the n = 5 compl
ex in the configuration-interaction expansion to ensure convergence. Our ca
lculated energy values are within 1% of the experimental results compiled b
y Martin et al. The present energy levels, oscillator strengths and lifetim
es are compared with other theoretical and experimental results.
