Abstract
Particles with characteristics similar to marine free-living prochlorophyte s have been detected by flow cytometry during summer in a eutrophic reservo ir in the south of Spain. The Prochlorococcus-like particles showed a verti cal distribution similar to Synechococcus. Both populations displayed a sub superficial maximum at 5 m.
