Malaria occurs throughout the tropics and represents a serious health threa
t to people exposed to risk of infection. Health care providers may be the
only link between information for their traveling patients and that threat.
The likelihood of infection can be reduced drastically by deliberate measu
res that minimize exposure to biting mosquitoes. However, personal protecti
ve measures alone rarely suffice where exposure to anopheline mosquitoes an
d infected human beings is appreciable.
