RESISTOR GRADING AT THE NSC PELLETRON

The cheap and robust voltage grading system, based on the point to pla ne corona discharge, provided in the Nuclear Science Centre (NSC) Pell etron accelerator is replaced by a grading system using high-voltage h igh-value resistors with appropriate spark protection for the resistor s. The accelerator has been operating for more than a year now with th e new grading system and the performance of the resistors has been qui te satisfactory, A brief introduction followed by the work done at NSC is given. The main features and the performance of the voltage gradin g at NSC with resistors are also included.
