R. Joshi et al., PERFORMANCE OF THE BEAM PULSING SYSTEM OF THE 15 UD PELLETRON ACCELERATOR AT NUCLEAR-SCIENCE-CENTER, Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Physics, 35(3), 1997, pp. 214-218
The Electrostatic International Incorporation (EII), USA supplied beam
pulsing system of the 15 UD Pelletron accelerator at Nuclear Science
Centre consists of mainly three components viz. a chopper, a travellin
g wave deflector [TWD] and a buncher. The chopper is used to chop the
de beam into small portions at the repetition rate of 1 MHz. The funct
ion of TWD is to achieve the eleven different repetition rates other t
han 4 MHz and the buncher finally bunches the chopped beam from the ch
opper. The performance of this beam pulsing system improved considerab
ly after incorporating a line voltage stabilizer to the system electro
nics and modifying the feedback loop of the system. The performance of
TWD was also improved after some modification in it's operation and a
dding an interlock circuit to TWD electronics. A spiral cavity is now
installed in the vault area after the analyzing magnet for the efficie
nt measurment of lime resolution of the pulsed beam.
