Abstract
Au/TiO2 and Pt/TiO2 nanocomposite films were deposited on quartz glass subs trates by the co-sputtering method. As-deposited Pt/TiO2 andAu/TiO2 nanocom posite films consist of amorphous nanoparticles of Pt, Pt-Ti-O or PtO2 in a morphous TiO2-x and crystallized Au nanoparticles in amorphous TiO2-x, resp ectively. The chemical states of Pt in as-deposited Pt/TiO2 nanocomposite f ilms were strongly dependent upon the content of Pt in the nanocomposites. The heated Au/TiO2 and Pt/TiO2 nanocomposite films were composed of Pt meta l and Au metal nanoparticles in the matrix of rutile-type TiO2, respectivel y Both Pt and Au nanoparticles in the nanocomposite films inhibit the forma tion of anatase-type TiO2 during heat treatment.
